Roger & Maggie Jamieson House Boat Plans

Hello, Roger (Rog) Jamieson here. My wife Maggie and I have been tinkering with houseboats for about a decade now. We love living on our house boat. It’s pretty much moored all the time, but there is something soothing about living on water that we just love. A little over a couple of years ago we decided we wanted to renovate our house boat, so I went in search of some house boat plans to make the job easier.

We’re retired now and have moved over to Vancouver Island. We live up in Nanaimo as we wanted to escape somewhere a little quieter. Our kids are grown up now and we had always wanted to live on the coast. What with beach front property being so darn expensive, we went for the next, or actually in hindsight, the best thing which is living on the ocean.

We worked hard for over 2 decades. Maggie was a school teacher and I was an administrator for the city. But now that we’re retired we’ve moved out to Nanaimo where the weather is more agreeable and our dream of owning and living on a houseboat has come true.

We hope you like our blog. Well actually, it’s my (Rog) pet project. I’ve made such great friends out here in the house boating community that I wanted to give back in a way. And now that I have time on my hands I’ll thought I’d setup this blog to help anyone else who is into house boating or even wants to build their own house boat one day. It’s doable, I’ve had friends do it and they love it. I’ve just decided to tinker with the house boat plans and focus on the inside rather than build something from scratch.

Mind you, if I knew then what I know now, I might have started from scratch and built my own house boat. So if that’s you, a special welcome, you’ll find plenty here as time goes by to help you get started building whatever kind of boat you want.

Happy Sailing,

Rog and Maggie Jamieson
